Mile High Denver Auto Repair Releases Transmission Care Checklist

Denver area transmission service center Mile High Denver Auto Repair releases public service announcement to increase drivers’ awareness of transmission problem indicators.

Denver, Colorado, August 31, 2010 - Mile High Denver Auto Repair today released an announcement intended to increase the driving public’s awareness of potential problem signals in automobile transmission systems. Transmission functions are central to a car’s drivetrain and propulsion systems. Problems with transmissions can range from minor to major in scope. Major repairs can be costly so giving attention to potential problem signs and attending to issues early can make a big difference in the extent of required repairs. Drivers are advised to give particular attention to the following:

1) Leaking Fluid
Transmissions have the potential to leak fluids. Pay attention to stains that may become apparent in places where the car is parked. A transmission leak may be a minor repair if caught early to head off more extensive damage. Whether major or minor in significance attention to a transmission leak should not be put off. The impact of the leak will not decrease with time so attend to it as soon as it’s noticed.

2) Check Engine Light is Illuminated
Check engine lights may display for any number of reasons including those large or small. As a precaution it’s recommended to have the car checked by a qualified automobile technician. Troubleshooting potential transmission of other problem in advance can save significant dollars in the long run. In numerous instances the problems are minor when attended to immediately.

3) Noticeable Change in Performance or Hesitation
Most drivers are accustomed to the way their car performs and deviations from norms are noticeable. A hesitation, slipping, or less than smooth gear changing may be signs of problems where transmissions are concerned. A hesitation or noticeable change in the way your car changes gears is typically a symptom that should be evaluated by a qualified technician. Experienced mechanics can reliably make a determination about the cause and take corrective actions, hopefully before problems become larger.

4) Unusual Sounds
Out-of-the ordinary sounds can also be an indication that something is not quite right. Cars make all kinds of audible sounds including humming, knocking, buzzing, and others. Rough sounds or noises when switching gears can be an indication of problems with the vehicle’s transmission. These occurrences are most often best evaluated by a skilled technician.
