Mile High Denver Auto Repair
For residents of the south Denver area, automotive repair shops are available but finding the one that’s just right for you is perhaps the challenge. As a public service to current south Denver automotive customers and prospective future customers alike, here are a few tips for taking proper care of your vehicle’s tires, important for performance and safety.
Checking the condition of your tires on a regular basis is perhaps one of the simplest, but often overlooked aspects of maintaining your automobile. However, if an effort is made to check your tires periodically, eventually it becomes second nature and easy to accomplish.
Checking your tires is important for routine driving around where you live and also prior to driving extensive distances such as on vacations or for business.
Try to set time aside once a week to check tires, including the air pressure. It’s a good goal for most drivers. This level of attention not only makes it more likely you’ll catch potential problems before they result in serious safety issues, but improves drivers’ confidence in the soundness of their automobiles. In general drivers should:
1) Look for bulges in the sidewall or tread, as well as cracks or cuts. If these are noticed then tires require immediate attention.
2) Also check for the way the tires are wearing. Tires that wear uneven may mean the automobile requires alignment or other adjustments.
3) Check the tire tread depth. For tires to perform in the way they’re designed there needs to be sufficient tread. One benchmark that’s easy to measure is to insert a quarter into the tread of your tires. If it comes to less than Washington’s head then your tread may be too worn.
4) Air pressure is also vitally important and should be checked regularly. It’s best to check tire pressure when your tires are cold. Check the proper inflation requirements for your vehicle and make sure the tires are filled to this level.
5) Also pay attention to vibration when driving the car. Vibration could be a result of alignment or tire balancing issues or of internal tire damage in some cases.
If you keep a list of these tire safety tips and give them sufficient attention you won’t regret it. Properly maintained tires can provide a long period of safe driving and maximize your investment in your automobile as well.

About Denver
The City and County of Denver is the capital and the most populous city of the state of Colorado, in the United States. Denver is a consolidated city-county located in the South Platte River Valley on the High Plains just east of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The Denver downtown district is located immediately east of the confluence of Cherry Creek with the South Platte River, approximately 15 miles (24 km) east of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Denver is nicknamed the Mile-High City because its official elevation is exactly one mile, or 5,280 feet (1,609 m) above sea level. The 105th meridian west of Greenwich passes through Union Station, making it the reference point for the Mountain Time Zone. The city of Denver's area is much smaller than that of Colorado's second most populous city, Colorado Springs.
The United States Census Bureau estimated that the population of Denver was 598,707 in 2008, making it the 24th most populous U.S. city. The 10-county Denver-Aurora Metropolitan Statistical Area had an estimated 2008 population of 2,706,947 and ranked as the 21st most populous U.S. metropolitan statistical area and the 12-county Denver-Aurora-Boulder Combined Statistical Area had an estimated 2008 population of 3,049,562 and ranked as the 16th most populous U.S. metropolitan area.
