Denver Honda Repair Service

Mile High Denver Auto Repair is a leading provider of Honda auto repair services to Denver, Colorado area residents. In addition the facility provides repair services for all major makes and models of automobiles.

Hondas in particular are considered to be among the most reliable and least expensive to own of all automobiles on the road. Naturally anything mechanical is still subject to normal wear and tear so maintenance is required from time to time. Honda itself publishes responses to frequently asked questions posed by Honda owners including the following:

1) What causes the brake pedal to ‘sink’ when holding a car stopped at a red light?

Honda explains that this change in brake pedal height is caused by an increased engine vacuum. Power brakes on Honda and other modern designed vehicles employ a vacuum effect to enhance the braking power when a driver presses the brake pedal. Mechanically it is the ‘booster’ that provides this effect to enhance drivers’ ability to stop their vehicles. Drivers that experience a momentary sink in the brake pedal when stopped at a light are advised that this is a normal characteristic of the braking system.

2) What’s responsible for the ‘groaning-like noise’ sometimes heard when the starts in the morning?

Again in this instance the anti-lock brake system (or ABS unit) can emit a brief sound as it performs a designed self-check. Usually the self-check process occurs when the vehicle backs up or is first moving forward after its start. The sound associated with the self-test is normal and is not cause for concern.

3) At what intervals should Honda vehicle timing belts be changed?

According to Honda the answer to this question depends on the model and year of the car. When the belts require changing may range from 60,000 to 90,000 miles. Excluded altogether from this requirement are vehicles that utilize a timing chain instead of a timing belt. Honda owners are generally referred to their car’s owners manual for specific instruction.

4) Is it OK to change the size of tire on Honda vehicles?

Honda recommends that any modification of their vehicles be avoided. Compliance with applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard laws are carefully engineering into each Honda vehicle. Changes to the tire size or other operating components of the car can affect safety, performance, and warranties in effect. Thus Honda recommends against modifications.
