Mile High Denver Auto Repair Announces Auto Winterization Tips
Aurora Colorado Auto Repair shop Mile High Denver Auto Repair announces automobile winterization tips to help keep drivers safe and protect their automobile investments
Denver, Colorado, November 30, 2009 – Mile High Denver Auto Repair today released a public service announcement listing recommended practices to ensure your automobile’s operational reliability and safety during cold and winter weather driving periods.
Check, Fill and Replace
Underneath an automobile’s exterior body are many working systems that cumulatively deliver the performance and utility associated with the vehicle. Ensuring regular maintenance visits and taking precautions to ensure recommended vehicle repairs are up-to-date is important year-round but perhaps even more of a concern when the prospect of being stranded in cold weather is a possibility. The best guideline for maintenance is the manufacturers recommended services as outlined in the automobile’s owner’s manual. Among these items include checking the health of the battery, all belts and hoses, and of course fluids. Anti-freeze is especially important in cold weather months. Windshield wiper fluid should be replenished to ensure its availability for inevitable driving in splash-back conditions.
Don’t Neglect Tires
Good tires are essential in winter months for obvious reasons. When driving in periods of snow, ice, or slushy conditions motorists need every advantage on their side. Tires should be checked for tread and their suitability for winter driving. Many tires today are considered “all season” but some others are designed for other seasonable use. Motorists’ driving habits may also be a factor in tire selection. Colorado drivers that regularly travel in the mountains due to their location of residence or for winter recreation may find that special winter season tires are needed. Maintaining air pressure and rotating tires to ensure optimum wear and traction is also an important consideration.
Be Prepared
In the event that drivers become stuck or stranded along the road during months it may be prudent to make preparations just in case. In addition to ice scrapers and more standard first aid kits, shovels and blankets may be appropriate for carrying in vehicles during winter months. Other items might include extra clothes, jumper cables, and flashlights, even sand for aiding traction should a vehicle ever become stuck. Plan ahead and take actions in advance to minimize the inconvenience and vulnerability associated with a mechanical breakdown during winter driving months.
